In my hypothesis I was correct because I thought that the egg would take the colour of the substance it was put in and I was correct, the egg in the syrup turned brown and the egg in the water stayed the same colour because the water is white. Some things that I predicted that the volume of the substance in the beaker would rise when the egg is placed in it. The reason we used the substance we did was because with the syrup it was a thick dark substance, and we wanted to see if the egg would turn the same colour as the syrup or if the syrup was too thick to diffuse into the egg. The independent variable we used was the substance the egg is submerged in because it does not depend on any of the other variables. The dependant variable was the size of the egg because it depended on the other 2 variables. The final variable is the controlled variable is the size off the beaker because it was something that was not going to change, in my mind this experiment was successful because it helped me learn a little more about the process of diffusion and osmosis. If I could I would maybe change just the regular water with some coloured water. I did not identify any problems throughout the project. If I could repeat this project I could maybe measure the temperature of the egg before and after the experiment, also I could have measured the temperature of the substances the egg is placed in.
